A Shreveport man is facing charges after he allegedly struck a pedestrian and fled the scene.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Legardy St.

Police believe Lornel Gipson, 41, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala when he hit a man and drove away.

Officers later learned that the victim, Clyde Young, 37, was apparently involved in some sort of verbal dispute which turned physical, during which time he was somehow rendered unconscious and subsequently run over by Gipson.

A short time after the accident authorities found Gipson at a home in the 1600 block of Princess Elaine St.

Gipson was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of DWI 4th offense.

The investigation is still underway with the possibility of additional felony charges pending.
