It's taken days for chefs and volunteers with local organizations to get food together for Christmas Day.

"It's pretty much all day we're working on our normal meals, then also the prep work for our christmas meal," says Hailey Singletary, a chef at the Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission.

The shelter has enough food to feed 300 people.

"We have lots of sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, ham, gravy, stuffing, enough for about 300."

At the North Hearne Avenue Multi-purpose Center, two chruches will join forces to feed anyone who comes through the door.

"Being Christians, we believe that Christ was born for us and that he was the gift to us, and instead of us looking for gifts on tomorrow, we want to be gift givers," says Bishop Timmie R. Howard, Sr.

Food will fill these pans on Wednesday, and they're even pulling out the stops by smoking special meats.

Bishop Howard says about 25 volunteers spent countless hours planning the christmas day meal.

"This was birthed through one of the members of the church, Sister Lisa Richards, came up with the idea let's feed some people in the neighborhood,” says Bishop Howard. “The idea grew, and it's become let's feed Shreveport."

Even if you're working on Christmas Day and just need a meal, Bishop Howard says you can come.

Volunteers will feed police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firemen, restaurant workers and anyone else working on Christmas Day.
