The rally will take place at 11 a.m. at 1101 Russell Road in Shreveport.
Organizer Marvin Muhammad says the rally will be to empower and inform residents. "We also want compensation in place for the residents that have been ill affected by the toxicity level in that area," he says.
Muhammad believes the landfill never should have been allowed in a residential area and adds landfills have a history of being built poor neighborhoods.
The DEQ ordered the landfill to stop accepting new waste but they are still accepting concrete and wood.
