Holiday festivities in Shreveport-Bossier

The time to enjoy colorful lights, decorations, music, delicious food and Christmas parades is just around the corner.

This week the Holiday Trail of Lights kicks off in Shreveport-Bossier, Minden, Natchitoches and other cities around the ArkLaTex.

The trail spans across I-20 and down I-49 and all the cities that are a part of it are within close driving distance of one another.
Here's a look at some of the holiday festivities going on in Shreveport-Bossier:

"Presents" Exhibit at Artspace
·    Includes festive decorations and offers gift wrapping. Every first and third Sat. we will have artist expression that offer hands on activities led by a local artist.
·    710 Texas Street - 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tues. - Fri. and Noon-5 p.m. Sat. - runs from Nov. 7 to Dec. 18 - Admission is FREE

Bass Pro Shops Christmas Parade at the Outlets at the Louisiana Boardwalk
·    Christmas parade includes Color guard from Barksdale, C.E. Byrd High School Choir, Airline High School Marching Band
·     4:15 p.m.-5p.m. - Saturday, Nov. 9. - parade goes from the Marriott Hotel to the Bass Pro Shops - parade ends when Santa Claus takes his seat at Santa's Wonderland inside of Bass Pro Shops - Admission is FREE

Boardwalk Christmas Lighting Ceremony
·    Lighting of Shreveport-Bossier's largest Christmas tree - Santa Claus will also make an appearance
·    Louisiana Boardwalk - 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 - Admission is FREE

Christmas in Roseland
·    The Gardens of the American Rose Center are transformed into a whimsical winter wonderland featuring more than a million twinkling lights, dozens of lighted displays, giant Christmas Cards Santa's Candy Shop, photos with Santa and Roseland Express train ride
·     8877 Jefferson Paige Road - 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. - Nov. 26 - Dec. 19
·    Individual admission is $5 per person or $20 per carload - ages 2 and younger are free

The 26th Annual Greening of Louisiana State Exhibit Museum
·    Performances, making ornaments and giving away prizes for the 24, third grade classes that have designed and decorated a holiday tree displayed throughout the museum until the end of December

Cajun Christmas Festival
Event starts at 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec 7 at the Cash Point "The Party Place" on 221 Cash Point Landing in Bossier City - includes a gumbo cook off, Cajun band, crafts and Santa will be available to take photos with children - Those under age 5 get in FREE, Admission is $5 
Country Christmas Festival
·    Parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at 100 Front St. in Vivian - activities include beauty pageant, food booths, arts and crafts and live entertainment - Admission is FREE

Benton Christmas on the Square Festival
·    Festival takes place between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at Heritage Village on 417 Sibley St. in Benton 5k run, large children's area with inflatables, face painting, arts and a musical performance - Children can take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus - Admission is FREE

Shoji Tabuchi Christmas Show
·    Event starts at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at the Strand Theatre - Shoji, who was born in Japan will play an eclectic mix of country, Big Band, Cajun, and Broadway tunes - Admission is $31-$52 

TNT Express Trolley
·    Tour runs from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at Artspace on 710 Texas St. - stops at several of the 15 cultural attractions throughout downtown Shreveport - holiday edition features shopping and holiday lights tours - Admission is FREE

Toy Making Workshops
·    Event takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday - Dec. 21 - Dec. 30 at Sci-Port
·    Kids will have the chance to use their science and engineering skills to make to toys including recycled rocket launchers and rockets - Admission is FREE

Why Does Rudolph's Nose Glow?
