An audit by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs released earlier this week revealed new patients seeking a primary care appointment faced a wait time of 44 days and 47 days for specialty care at the medical center.
"All of our veterans have served, some in war time some in peace time, it doesn't make any difference, they served. They served their country and they have earned and deserve the care that we give them," says Public Affairs Officer, Sandy Franks.
Overton Brooks sees 700 patients each day, and books 37,000 appointments each month.
Anyone that hasn't been contacted by the VA or has questions is urged to call Public Affairs at 318-990-5249 or Patient Advocates at 318-221-8411 extension 5013 and 6712 or the Program Manager at extension 6308.
The after hours tele-care number is 800-639-5137.
