Tonight Shreveport city council learned exactly where in the process the redistricting plan is. It's been more than a year since they approved the map, and because of communication and a court case with the Department of Justice progress was delayed and 2,000 people were left out of their district.
The area of southeast Shreveport has seen rapid growth over the years, and at least 31 property annexes weren't accounted for. Now that it's adjusted, the city's population mirrors roughly 200,000 people.
