WEATHERNATOR FORECASTING CONTEST FORECAST PAGE
Congrats to Fouke Elementary the 2016 Weathernator Forecasting Contest Champions
Monday Februay 29, 2016
Congratulations to the team from Fouke Elementary for winning the 2016 Weathernator Forecasting contest. As usual the contest was very close and came down the to last day. The last day for forecasting at Salt Lake City proved to be a very challenging one. Only a handful of teams did not forecast rain for Saturday. It turned out that Salt Lake City stayed dry and was much warmer than indicated by the models. The high was 65 and the low occurred at midnight Saturday night at 37. Here is how close it was. IF the low had dropped just ONE more degree the Crestview Garrison 3 team would have tied the team from Fouke. The North Desoto Pierce team was also just a point away from winning.
Thanks to all students for participating in this years contest. Part of being a meteorologist is learning from your mistakes. It's always fun for me to see how your forecasts improve as we progress through the competition. In that sense, you are all winners!
Teachers, I want to thank you for making time in your busy day to give your students a chance to learn a little something extra about weather. I hope that everyone enjoyed the contest as much as I did!!
