Larry Hanisee: Bossier City Council District 5

Here are some comments from Larry Hanisee on why he thinks he should be re-elected for Bossier City Council District 5:

  • What are your qualifications for the position? Qualifications for the position require education, leadership, involvement, working relationships, and listening. I have all of those qualifications. Higher education began at Bossier Parish Community College where I served as President of the SGA. Graduated Northwestern State University with Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Marketing.  Employment history was mainly Sales/Sales Management with NCR, Xerox, and FedEx.  Each furthered my knowledge by helping customers meet their expectations. Served as member and president of Bossier Lions Club and BPCC Foundation and member of Bossier Knights of Columbus and Junior Achievement of North LA. I am a current member of the Bossier City Council and served as past President. I have working relationships with the Bossier Mayor, Bossier Councilmen, Bossier Fire and Police, and the many Bossier Public Services. I have the desire to listen and take action to be a part of continuing to make our great city even better.
  • What do you think are the biggest challenges facing your town/city/district? Traffic, Public Safety, Financial Accountability, Development, and Quality of Life. Traffic is a problem today and will be more so in the future. We must act now.  I have met with the Mayor, City Traffic Engineer, and LA Department of  Transportation, have discussed our traffic problems and have made some improvements.  I will continue to pursue solutions. Supporting our Police, Fire, and public service departments is imperative.  Our city service departments continue to be among the top rated. We should be prepared to offer education incentives and support their needs. We had a budget crisis in 2009. I am very sensitive to maintaining a balanced budget and making sound financial decisions that will grow our city. Continued riverfront development, independent business growth, and attracting large companies and new industry will continue to grow Bossier City. The ultimate goal is to ensure the best Quality of Life for Bossier citizens.
  • If elected, what will you do to help your constituents? Listen, Discuss, Determine, and Act My job as a Bossier City Councilman is to be the voice of my constituents and support their cumulative needs.  I have always been available to listen, have many times been able to take action, and will continue to do so. It is important to me to reflect the majority of my constituents when taking a position in a specific neighborhood or within the entire district. The best solutions must be researched in order to create a new development or fix an ongoing issue. Once a solution has been determined, I will act on behalf of my district to take next steps with the Mayor's office, the City Council, or other public service departments within the city.  I always welcome and appreciate the input from my constituents.  We are all in this together.
