It's a simple sauce to make, and the ingredients can be found in your own backyard.

Herbs can add flavor and variety to any dish, but why not make a sauce with them?

Pesto is an easy and quick sauce to make.

NBC 6's Jade Cunningham met with Twine Chef, Patrece Jones, to show us just how easy and fun it is to make.

Patrece's Pesto:

-2 cups fresh basil leaves (you can also add spinach)
-1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
-1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
-1/3 cup pine nuts (you can also use a different nut: pistachio, walnut, pecans)
-3 cloves garlic, minced
-salt and pepper to taste
-You'll also need a food processor for this recipe

1. Add Basil and pine nuts and pulse in processor
2. Add garlic and cheese and pulse in processor
3. Add oil and process
4. Scrape sides and put pesto in bowl
5. Add salt and pepper to taste (remember though, there's salt in the nuts and cheese)
6. Enjoy!
