A local college organization helps a special non-profit in a time of need.

This morning Southern University Shreveport made its way to the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission as a part of National Trio Day.

It's a day devoted to helping the mission.

The students organized a drive to collect something the mission really needs... white towels.

The university was able to collect more than 1,500 towels for the rescue mission.
