Bayou Classic Attendees To Be Offered No Cost HIV-Screenings

(Baton Rouge) -- As part of the agency's World Aids Day activities, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals will be offering those attending the Bayou Classic this weekend in New Orleans no-cost HIV screenings.

DHH officials say the free screenings to be conducted Saturday near the Superdome are part of the department's outreach to African-Americans who make up 32-percent of the state's population, but represent 75-percent of new HIV cases last year in Louisiana.
