The Caddo Parish School Board held a special session to discuss the approval of new charter schools.

The board voted to not approve "Leaves of Gold" charter school's application and “Central City Academy”.

But the “Algiers Charter School Association's” application was approved.

The president of the school board Carl Pierson says,”This is gonna be a school thats a type 3 charter which means they'll take over an existing school with the students from the existing community, from the existing district."

If Caddo parish has a failing school, the charter school will take over in 2016.
