It's an exciting time for the Cinderella Project in Shreveport as they get ready to let the good times roll.

This weekend they'll be participating in the Krewe of Highland's Mardi Gras Parade.

However, before rolling down the streets in their one of a kind float, they gave NBC 6 News a first look at what they'll be riding in.

In addition to participating in their first Mardi Gras parade, they'll be busy collecting prom dresses for their giveaway coming up March 8th.

Starting Monday, March 3rd they ask anyone who has extra prom dresses to donate them.

Dresses can be new or used and dropped off at the Goodwill on Airline Drive or the one near Tinseltown.

The Prom Dress Giveaway will be held Saturday, March 8th from 8am-1pm.

This year, students from five schools will be participating:

-Booker T. Washington

-Fair Park

-Green Oaks

The giveaway is a first come first serve event held at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club (Greenwood Road).

Girls will be able to get tips from stylists about hair and makeup, and will also be paired with a sales associate.
