DeLaughter's Grocery Fears New Competition Could Hurt Them

DeLaughter’s grocery has been in business for more than forty four years. They have two stores in Redwater and Maud. They say a new Walmart Express that will be built next to city hall will eventually put them out of business. Officials from DeLaughter’s say they employ fifteen people at each store. Some of their workers have been with the company for more than a decade. They worry that one day those people will be out of work if they close because of competition with the Walmart Express. Redwater mayor Robert Lorance says the new Walmart will employ thirty-five people and add money to the local revenue base. For the full story click pay.
