UPDATE: Victims of crash tentatively identified

Victims believed to be Terry & Pam Bailey of Center, TX

DESOTO PARISH, La. - UPDATE: The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office say they have tentatively identified the victim's in the Wallace Lake helicopter crash.

Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle believes the victims are Terry and Pam Bailey of Center, TX.

The official confirmation will come from the DeSoto Parish Coroner's Office. 

The remains of the victims were discovered Thursday morning. 

The Bell B429 helicopter is believed to have crashed sometime early Wednesday morning. 

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the helicopter had left the Shreveport area with a destination of Center, TX sometime around 12:00 a.m., or midnight, but never made it to Center, TX.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be in charge of the investigation.

 

 

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office says two people were on a helicopter that crashed in Wallace Lake. 

The aircraft is believed to have been flying from Shreveport Downtown Airport to Center, Texas, when the accident occurred.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration a Bell B429 helicopter with two people aboard crashed under unknown circumstances.

The FAA says the helicopter's tail number is N598PB.
 
The helicopter is registered to Terry Bailey from Center, TX.
 
FAA investigators are on their way to the site and the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation.

The identities of the victims have not been confirmed. 

UPDATE:

According to the Federal Aviation Administration a Bell B429 helicopter with two people aboard crashed under unknown circumstances into Wallace Lake today, about 10 miles southeast of Shreveport.

The aircraft is believed to have been flying from Shreveport Downtown Airport to Center, Texas, when the accident occurred.

FAA investigators are on their way to the site and the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation.

The FAA will release the tail number of the aircraft after accident investigators are able to verify it. Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft was registered to an owner in Center.

 

 

UPDATE:

The helicopter crash site has been located about 1 mile off the shore of Wallace Lake. 

Rescue boats are having a hard time reaching the crash site due to the salvinia on the lake.

The lead agency is DeSoto Parish and Caddo Parish is assisting in the effort.

So far, no information is available on the helicopter or its passengers.
