We're less than 48 hours away from the conclusion of the Toys for Tots campaign. Time is running out and local Marines still haven't met their goal for this year.

Sgt. Anthony Shoemake says, "We're about half way there."

18 years ago the US Marine Corps started The Toys for Tots initiative. Without the program some local children wouldn't have anything under their Christmas tree.

Sgt. Shoemake says they're trying to help 6,000 children in our area.

"That's what our goal is and that’s what we're determined to do for every single Christmas season.”

There's more than 120 drop off locations across northwest Louisiana.

The Toys for Tots finale is this Friday, December 13th. NBC Six News will be out in front of the Walmart on Airline Dr. in Bossier City from 6 am until 6:30pm.
