The week-long camp was included demonstrations from Energy expert Jim Jones, a safety discussion and egg drop challenge in which campers designed an apparatus to safeguard an egg during a 35-foot drop.
The youth also developed teamwork and communication skills and visited a Shell Oil facility where they spoke to geologists and engineers to learn about drilling concepts and jobs in the oil and gas industry.
In addition to the solar oven, campers also built solar cars and completed a pipeline activity.
The camp was presented by Shell Oil and utilized facilities within NSU's Department of Engineering Technology.
