A Desoto Parish family is coping with the loss of a loved one after a deadly house fire.

Fifty-two year-old Willie Walton died yesterday after his home went up in flames.

Walton's relatives didn’t want to talk on camera, but they said they're a tight-knit family, and they're holding up.

This home in the 5000 block of Highway 84 in Mansfield is destroyed.

Walton's daughter and another person inside heard a popping noise, then they heard Walton yell. But when they tried to make it to him, they were met with flames.

Firefighters found the 52-year-old's body in the living room.

Investigators believe Walton was cooking when the fire started.

Sadly, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal Office has been busy with other deadly fires in north Louisiana this weekend.

The deadly Mansfield fire is still under investigation.

Walton's body has been sent off for autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
