Detectives are working to apprehend a former Shreveport firefighter who allegedly made threats against the fire department.
Just after 5:00 p.m. on July 11th, Shreveport Police officers were notified by members of the Shreveport Fire Department command staff that they had received information a former fireman had allegedly made posts on a social media website that were threatening in nature.
Police department administrators immediately assigned a marked patrol unit to the fire station mentioned in the posts and ordered detectives to investigate the matter.
Based on information and evidence gathered during their ongoing inquiry, authorities believe 51 year old Derrick Harris made posts on Facebook threatening certain members of the Shreveport Fire Department as well as Central Fire Station.
Working closely with the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office, investigators subsequently obtained an arrest warrant charging Harris with one count of terrorizing. His bond has been set at $250,000.
Police are searching for Harris, whose last known address was in the 6700 block of Rasberry Lane, but have so far been unable to locate him. Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Derrick Harris is urged to contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373
Seven firefighters were investigated at Fire Station 8 for playing cruel pranks on two mentally challenged men who spent time at the station. They were also accused of of paying a prostitute to have sex with one of the men.
The former firefighter chief, Derrick Harris, is charged with Cruelty to the Infirm and Principal to Prostitution for his involvement in the scandal at Fire Station 8.
