Former Red River Parish Sheriff passes away

NBC 6 has learned that former Red River Parish Sheriff Johnny Ray Norman has died.

Norman passed away Friday morning at Willis Knighton North at the age of 72. 

Norman was elected Sheriff in 2004 and served for two consecutive terms.  During his tenure as Sheriff, he served on various committees for the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.

Visitation for Norman will be held between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at the First United Methodist Church on 2018 Front St. in Coushatta. 

Funeral services for Norman will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 16 at the same location.  Burial will be at the Springville Cemetery in Coushatta.

The family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Youth Choir, P. O. Box 487, Coushatta, LA 71019 or the charity of your choice.
