Sam Curry, former police chief in Vivian, LA, was arrested late Thursday morning on an active Louisiana State Police Warrant.

Curry, 63, was taken into custody at 11:51 a.m. today by Troopers J. Covington and Eric Schonfarber and booked into Caddo Correctional Center on two charges of theft and one charge of misuse of dealer plates. He is currently being held on $3,862.50 bond.

Curry, who owns a paint and body shop and a wrecker service, was elected police chief in 2006, defeating incumbent Edwin Beard, who defeated him in 2002.  Curry ran for re-election in 2010 but was defeated by Ryan Nelson.
