Lafayette Co. Sheriff's Deputy Pete Richardson will be laid to rest this weekend.

Funeral services for Richardson will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at the First Baptist Church of Stamps.

Richardson, a 19-year veteran of the department, died Monday while on his way to drop Michael Ackart off at a homeless shelter.

Ackart allegedly grabbed the steering wheel of Richardson's patrol vehicle causing it to collide with an SUV and a tractor trailer.   He faces murder charges in Richardson's death.
