Gilliam, LA – Just before noon today, State Fire Marshal investigators were called upon to investigate a deadly blaze that claimed the lives of two Gilliam residents. Caddo Parish Fire District 7 firefighters were dispatched to the residential fire at 5417 Community Street at approximately 11:30 am after neighbors reported the fire.

First arriving firefighters found the two bedroom mobile home fully involved in flames. After the fire was brought under control, firefighters located the bodies of 35-year-old Adonis Walker and his girlfriend, 32-year-old Hanna Hawkins, in the master bedroom of the burned-out structure.

The two fire victims occupied the home with two children who were away from the home attending school.

Investigators determined that the fire originated in a bedroom on the opposite end of the home from where the victims slept. Investigators have not yet identified the cause of the fire, but suspect electricity supplied to the home by extension cords played a role in the fire. There were no working smoke alarms in use in the home.

The bodies were processed on the scene by investigators and released to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy.  State Fire Marshal investigators, along with Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, continue to investigate the cause of this deadly fire.
