A woman is recovering after she allegedly drove her car into the path of a train in south Shreveport.

The accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Claiborne Ave. and Mansfield Rd.

Investigators believe Judy Henderson, 60, was attempting to beat an oncoming Union Pacific train when she crossed the tracks in her 1999 GMC Sierra pick-up truck.

Henderson, who is likely to face citations, was taken to University Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

The train was estimated to be traveling at 25 mph, when it went into full emergency brake mode but still was unable to avoid striking Henderson's vehicle.

Police say all emergency warning devices appeared to be fully operable at the time of the accident.
