Interstate 49 will increase the traffic flow into north Caddo Parish and that creates an increased need for emergency medical services. Now a small town hospital prepares for the possible surge in patients.

Mauriece Beckham says, “It’s going to bring in more industry, I believe and more people traveling, so that's going to be more money for the communities around.”

That creates the need for more ambulances in the area.

Mary Coil says, “It’s going to increase our EMS run volume.”

Coil says 28 additional miles of interstate will be in the hospital's district.

"The third ambulance will better serve the area."

There are future plans to have a full time ambulance stationed in Gilliam.

"We just want to be prepared to reach those patients in a timely manner."

To meet the needs of a growing population construction is underway for a new 72,000 square foot medical facility.

Now people in the area will have access to surgical services along with mammograms.

"We're looking forward to the positive growth."

All the changes come with a price tag and that's where the hospital's foundation comes in.

The North Caddo Medical Center’s Foundation is holding a gala on August 23rd at Sam’s Town Casino. Tickets will cost $100. For purchasing information call 318-375-4025.
