It was a day of giving as many locals spent their day giving back to the children in Caddo parish.

The Library and Amerigroup handed out back packs to the first 500 children who participated.

A local parent says she loves the event and it really helps out.

"It's good when you have people working together making sure your kids have everything they need to start the school year,"

said mother of three, Constance Watson.

Then over on Linwood Avenue, Bos-Man's Barber College did free back-to-school Haircuts for grades K-12th grade. The event was to make sure that the young men look their best on their first day.

Shawn Boston is the owner of Boss-Man's Barber College.

"New school clothes on, new back pack, so why not have a new haircut?" says Shawn Boston.
