Leslie Draffin joined NBC 6 as morning anchor and military reporter in November 2011. You can see her weekday mornings on NBC 6 News Today from 5-7 a.m.
Leslie grew up in the Palmetto State where she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina.
Starting her career in Beckley, WV, Leslie learned almost every job in a newsroom. She was a reporter, photographer, editor, newsroom manager and anchor. In West Virginia she also learned she didn’t like cold weather, so after a year and a half- and more snow than she’d ever seen before- Leslie moved back to the warmth of her home state.
In Rock Hill, Leslie covered local politics and met several Presidential hopefuls including Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum. One of her fondest memories is sitting down to talk one on one with Charlie Daniels.
Reporting on military issues is especially close to Leslie’s heart, since her husband, Cody, proudly serves in the United States Marine Corps. Every Friday at 10 pm she takes you inside Barksdale Air Force Base in her weekly Hometown Heroes report.
When she’s not working, Leslie enjoys exercising, reading, playing the piano, singing karaoke, catching the latest movies in theaters and spending time with her husband. And if it’s warm outside you’ll find Leslie spending time by the nearest pool.
