African American monuments stolen in Stamps, AR

Stamps, AR - In Lafayette County, a couple of statues honoring African Americans in Stamps, Arkansas have been stolen.

It happened just days after the town's first African American mayor was elected.

One monument was of Maya Angelou, famous and native poet.

The other, a copper bus with black confederate statues, which costs over $2000.

"That is the only way that you can over ride these kinds of situations, treat people with dignity and respect and move forward" says Mayor Brenda Davis.

The replacement confederate soldiers monument is excepted to be delivered in January of 2018.
