SHREVEPORT, La - A ride on a Shreveport ambulance will soon cost you more cash. Tuesday City council approves increasing fees for patients.
The fee for ambulance services will go up a couple of dollars to $20 dollars per mile. The minimum charge also increased from $700 to $900.
Shreveport council chairman, James Flurry says the previous fee was below the state average. He adds that there has been an increase in calls for Shreveport EMS. He says the new charges won't effect Medicaid patients.
There currently is a Transport Ambulance Program already in place in Shreveport. Renewals take place once a year and according to Flurry it costs $35 a year. The fee covers your entire household.
