Bossier authorities nab sex offender who failed to update his registry

BOSSIER PARISH, La. - A man wanted by the Bossier Sheriff’s Office for failing to renew his sex offender registry is now behind bars.

On Friday deputies arrested Morris Garnal Hampton near his home on Hogan Rd. in Elm Grove.

Hampton was convicted in 2011 for indecent behavior of a juvenile and is required to renew his sex registration each year for 15 years as a Tier 1 sex offender, but as of last November, he failed to register for the third time.

Hampton was booked into to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of Change of Address (he did not live at the address on file when deputies checked that home) and Failure to Complete Sex Offender Notification.

Hampton's bond has been set at $100,000.
