Date set for lawsuit trial for fatal bus crash

MOUNT PLEASANT, TX - A federal judge has set jury selection and a trial date for a lawsuit following a fatal school bus crash in east Texas.

The crash on March 23 killed Angelica Beard, an assistant coach with the Mount Pleasant boys track team.

Also killed in the crash was Bradley Farmer.

Farmer's 18-wheeler drove into the bus' lane and hit it.

According to an autopsy report, Farmer was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Several students on the bus were taken to local hospitals to be treated for injuries.

Several lawsuits have been filed on behalf of the injured students.

Last week Federal Judge Robert Schroeder III set the trial to begin on April 23, 2018 at the federal courthouse in Texarkana, TX.

Jury selection will begin on April 16, 2018.

A pre-trial conference is set for April 3, 2018.
