Natchitoches, La. - A DeSoto Parish woman was airlifted to University Health Hospital in Shreveport suffering moderate injuries following a two-vehicle crash on I-49, Monday afternoon according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office.
On Monday afternoon November 13 at approximately 2:57pm, Natchitoches Police, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches City Fire Department, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Life Air 1 Medical helicopter responded to 911 reports of a two-vehicle injury crash on I-49 north of Natchitoches near milepost #139.
Units arrived on scene finding one occupant trapped in the wreckage.
According to Louisiana State Police, 62-year-old Suzanne Powell, of Mansfield, La. was traveling northbound on I-49 north of Natchitoches operarting a 2016 Infiniti QX-70 in the outside lane when she apparently veered off the road on the right side striking a parked eighteen wheeler on the right shoulder that was unoccupied and disabled at the time of the crash due to mechanical problems.
Powell was extricated from the vehicle by Natchitoches City Fire Department, treated at the scene by Natchitoches EMS and airlifted by Life Air to University Health with moderate injuries.
Deputies say traffic was slowed in the area for approximately 3 hours while State Police investigated the crash.
