TEXARKANA, Tx - Snow blanketed the ground in Texarkana overnight, leaving residents to face hazardous road conditions.
Police report numerous crashes on Interstate 30 Tuesday. Sgt. Sylvia Jennings with the Texas Department of Public Safety said, "Roads are slick, they're icy, people just need to slow down. People are losing control and running of the roadway, both east and westbound lanes."
Authorities advise people to stay home because of the treacherous roads, which they'll be keeping a close eye on overnight Tuesday night, as well. TexDOT Public Information Officer Marcus Sandifer said, "Overnight temperatures are gonna drop again and anything that's left on the roadway will refreeze and could create black ice which is hard to detect."
Transportation officials expect their crews to be busy until at least Thursday.
