UNION GROVE, Texas (KETK) - The heroic East Texas boy who inspired the viral #BattleForBrock campaign has passed away.
Brock Gumm, 9, died on Tuesday, around 12:15 p.m., after a battle with Osteosarcoma, for the second time.
Brock's personality and zest for life inspired the campaign which bears his name.
The campaign even gained the attention of star players for the Dallas Cowboys.
The #BattleForBrock Facebook page says a prayer service originally scheduled for Tuesday night at the home of Brock has been canceled.
Instead, a vigil will be held in the Union Grove High School parking lot at 6:p.m., where the community will lift up the Gumm family in prayer.
"Please continue to pray for the Gumms as the have a long road of healing ahead," the page said. "We ask that you please give the family time to grieve the loss of their hero and hold off on phone calls and visits for the time being. Thank you all for your continued support."
