HARLETON, Texas (KETK) - The superintendent for an East Texas school district has been placed on leave and is under investigation.
According to Acting Superintendent Tina Cox, action was taken by the Harleton ISD school board against Dr. Greg Coleman at the last meeting on February 20.
The board released the following statement:
"The Board of Trustees has put Dr. Coleman on leave with pay pending an investigation and named Tina Cox as the acting superintendent.
As the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to discuss the matter at this time.
The board, the administration and the entire faculty is focused on educating our students to ensure social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of every child.
At this time, we have no further comments on this matter."
According to the school's website, Dr. Coleman earned his undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin and doctorate from Sam Houston State. He has been the superintendent at Harleton ISD since 2007.
