UNION PARISH, La. - A Farmerville man died this morning in a one-vehicle crash on West Port Union Road.
Morris Barnhill, 77, was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident by the Union Parish coroner.
Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to the crash just before 8 this morning.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Barnhill was traveling east on West Port Union Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a small tree about eight miles east of Farmerville.
It is still unknown whether Barnhill was wearing a seatbelt.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
