SHREVEPORT - Shreveport Police detectives are investigating a double shooting which claimed the life of a male victim Sunday evening and seriously injured another in Shreveport Sunset Acres neighborhood.
Just after 7:30 p.m., on October 29, 2017, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a home located in the 2900 block of Hillcrest Avenue after receiving multiple reports of shots gunshots being fired. As officers arrived at the scene, it was learned two adult males were suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the various portions of the body. One man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second man, identified as 26 year old Jaeric Carey, was transported via ambulance to University Health hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives were called to the scene of the crime and have since begun the process of gathering information and evidence in the tragedy. Based on preliminary information gathered at the scene, it appears both victims were sitting inside a parked car in the driveway of the residence when the vehicle they were sitting in was riddled with bullets. A neighboring home was also struck by a stray round, however; no other injuries were reported. Police are searching for the suspects involved in the crime, however; details of those suspects are very limited at current.
