GLOVIS America brings more jobs to the area

CADDO PARISH-- - This monthly meeting in Broadmoor also discussed neighborhood improvement projects, and the recent city approval of the storage facility on Fern Avenue.

Shreveport City Councilman, Jerry Bowman Jr., attended the meeting and  shared updates regarding the new Hyundai subsidiary doing business at the former GM plant.

GLOVIS America announced last month that it has leased part of the gm plant in West Shreveport to outfit imported vehicles with equipment and exterior upgrades.

This will employ 150 people direct jobs of people actually working at the facility and around 246 indirect jobs.

"Which will be like the Union Pacific Railroad, where people will be hired. We will have to get those vehicles in and out and also off of the trucks and over to the facility plant themselves. So, it will be a lot more jobs coming," says Jerry Bowman, Jr., Shreveport City Councilman District G.

Bowman adds the rail company has already hired 40, and there will be plenty more to come.
