GSU championship football team honored at capitol

BATON ROUGE - Grambling State University was honored Wednesday at the state capitol.

The Tigers 2017 football team won the HBCU national championship.

Grambling President Rick Gallot says the ceremony honored the public university system, as a whole.

"For every one dollar the state invests in these nine UL schools there's an eight-dollar return. So, it's clear there's a financial advantage to the state to invest in higher education" said President Gallot.

Grambling has won fourteen black college national championships, tied for second most in the country.
