Mayor Tyler says she came to her decision to run after prayer.

"I'm very serious about running again. There are so many things we would like to finish. There are so many things we would like to see happen in the city of Shreveport. So I've prayed about it and always enlist God's guidance" said Mayor Tyler.

Tyler became the first black woman elected Mayor of Shreveport in 2014.

So far no other candidate has announced their plans to run for Shreveport Mayor.

The election for Shreveport Mayor is November 6. Qualifying for the race is July 18-July 20.
