Make a big play for the food bank by buying a Souperbowl box at Kroger

Shreveport, La. - Now through Super Bowl Sunday at Kroger's across Shreveport Bossier you can buy a Souperbowl of Caring box full of items for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.

Martha Marak, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana said "Each bag has non perishable food items. Canned goods, dry foods like rice and beans, pastas."

You can find the boxes in displays across the store or at checkout.

John McNeil is the Manager of the Kroger on Ellerbe Road. He said "We have a little contest going among the cashiers and every time someone yells out field goal or touchdown the other cashiers hoop and holler.

A food box purchase is a touchdown and a cash donation is a field goal. Nancy Guyott noticed all the excitement and that got her excited to buy a box.

Guyott said "To help the people that were homeless and hungry. I'm all about that."

After the rush of the holidays, the food bank is ready to see lots of boxes coming through their doors again.

Marak said "Food insecurity is 365 days a year."

You can buy a Souperbowl Box through February 4th but donations can be made year round.
