LAFAYETTE, LA - It's been over a week since Lafayette resident Juwanna Brooks went missing on a week long cruise traveling from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico.
Her mother is holding on to the hope that she returns home to be laid to rest and her family can finally have closure.
"Very lovable, everyone loves her. She's just a fun person, happy and loved kids."
Marilyn Winfrey smiles when she talks about her daughter, 44-year-old Juwanna Brooks.
But behind her smiles, lies heartache.
In an exclusive interview, Winfrey told KLFY News 10 she was contacted by Carnival Cruise line officials shortly after her daughter, Juwanna went overboard near the coast of Mexico.
