Not guilty plea in toddler shooting death

LITTLE ROCK - An Arkansas man arrested in the December 2016 shooting death of a three-year-old boy has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental defect.

Gary Holmes was in Pulaski County Circuit Court Thursday morning to answer charges that police have said was a case of road rage.

Acen King, who was riding in the back seat of his grandmother's car, died in the shooting.

Also during Thursday's court appearance for Holmes, a date for a mental evaluation was set but the judge did not allow him bond.

Holmes was arrested in the case five days after it happened on charges of Capital Murder and Terroristic Act.
