Shreveport, LA - State officials announce a letter of intent is signed for Ochsner Health System to take over safety net hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe The hospitals have been operated by BRF since 2013.
State officials say they hope this letter of intent puts concerns to rest about the future of LSU Health.
Ochsner's CEO says they never planned to move the medical school. They only want to improve it. The state says the letter of intent does not have official details on this new partnership yet.
BRF says they are pleased with the outcome because they've been trying to work with Ochsner for about two years now.
They also say current employees will keep their jobs after the change of management. All parties involved say their mission is to keep health care, education and jobs in north Louisiana.
