Officials identify East Texas man at center of manhunt

TITUS COUNTY, Texas (KETK) - New details have been released regarding a manhunt involving an East Texas man.

On Wednesday, around 8:00 p.m., the Titus County Sheriff’s Office responded to an aggravated assault call on Private Road 1410 at the residence of Tammy Jones.

Deputies were told by Jones that Stephen Coker was attempting to run over Jones with a truck.

Jones said Coker drove a truck into Jones' residence and then drove off into the wooded area near her house. Deputies attempted, but were unable, to apprehend Stephen Coker who fled into the woods.

Officials say Coker had stolen a vehicle in the area and the Mount Pleasant Police Department pursued the vehicle.

According to law enforcement, Coker drove into a pasture and was able to get away from officers.

Later, the TCSO received a call from a resident in Red River County saying Coker was there.

Deputies went to the location, but Coker, again, ran into the woods.

A search was conducted by the TCSO, the Red River County Sheriff's Office, MPPD and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At this time, Coker is still at large and wanted by authorities.

He was last seen in Red River County on County Road 1412.

The TCSO currently has a warrant on Coker for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Several more warrants are expected soon.

The TCSO says Coker is dangerous and urges anyone who sees him to contact law enforcement immediately
