Shreveport, La. - UPDATE:
The Caddo Parish Coroner's office has released the name of the man who died after he was struck by a truck in north Shreveport late Monday night.
The victim was identified as 31-year-old Lentavise O. Bowman of Shreveport.
The accident happened just before 8:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes in the 4000 block of North Market St.
According to Shreveport Police Bowman was attempting to cross North Market from the west side of the roadway when he was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet pickup traveling northbound.
The driver of the truck, 58 year old Doyle Daupin of Plain Dealing remained on the scene and was taken to a local hospital where he submitted to mandatory toxicology testing as required by state law.
While the crash remains under investigation, impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
According to Shreveport police a pedestrian was killed when they were hit by a vehicle at N. Market at Hwy 71. The accident happened around 8:30 pm. Crash investigators have been dispatched to the scene. No word on the driver or the identity of the victim.
Shreveport Police officials say a pedestrian was hit and killed by an oncoming vehicle while trying to cross the street on North Market.
It happened just before 9 p.m. Monday night along the part of North Market that splits off to Highway 71.
The driver did not have any life threatening injuries.
There's no word yet on the identity of the victim or the driver.
Traffic is being diverted to Highway 71 near the St. Pius X Catholic Church.
There are two street lights out where the crash took place.
