Police looking for murder suspect

SHREVEPORT - Shreveport Police detectives are in the early stages of an investigation into a shooting which injured one man and claimed the life of another overnight, outside a west Shreveport home.
Shortly before 1:15 a.m. on February 8, 2017, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a home located in the 200 block of North Emerald Loop relative to a shooting.  As officers arrived at the scene, it was learned that two men were suffering gunshot wounds after they were reportedly shot while sitting inside a vehicle parked in front of the residence.  The victims, 19 year old Kendarrius Henderson and 21 year old Jelantis Chatman were transported to University Health hospital via ambulance, where Henderson later died.
At the arrival of detectives and Crime Scene investigators to the scene, information was gathered suggesting the men were shot by a suspect who fired multiple rounds from what is believed to be a grey colored Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck.  It is believed the suspect vehicle made multiple passes down the roadway before firing shots striking the vehicle and it’s occupants.  As authorities continued to probe the case, their efforts led them to name 22 year old Darell Bell as a suspect in the shooting.  Bell, who has an address in the 2700 block of Malcom Street, is now wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant charging him with a single count of Second Degree Murder and a single count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.  Bond in the matter has been set at a combined $750,000.00.  Persons with any information on the whereabouts of Darell Bell are asked to contact Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at www.lockemup.org
