Salute the Badge: One year after the flood

BOSSIER PARISH, La. - On March 8th, 2016... the rain began to fall and the Red River began to rise.

Hundreds of homes were evacuated... schools closed... and roads blocked.

Flood waters washed away roads... homes... and savings accounts.

Bossier Parish deputies continually stepped up to help those in need...

Many deputies dealing with flooding and loss of their own... still worked around the clock to serve others who were stranded.

In the end more than 600 homes and businesses were affected.

The Sheriff's office spent nearly 400-thousand dollars for its part in the rescue efforts.

Sheriff Whittington says he was proud of the community's cooperation... support and gratitude...

"It's just reassuring when everyone knows we're in the fight together," said Sheriff Whittington. It just makes it so much easier."
