Shamrock Shuffle 5K set for Saturday, March 4th

Event raises funds for military families

SHREVEPORT, La. - 'The Barksdale Officers Spouses Club (BOSC), in partnership with the Northwest Louisiana Military Support Foundation  will host the  Annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K Race & Free Kids Fun Run on March 4, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. in Shreveport's Red River District. The shuffle will raise funds for the BOSC scholarship program, along with local and national military charities - all with a larger focus on Barksdale service members and their families. 

"We are thrilled to see so many people come together to support our military, and are grateful for the incredible support we've received from the Shreveport/Bossier City community," said Yiotula Shilland, BOSC President. "This year we hope to raise more than $25,000, and anticipate more than 500 runners at our exciting event." 

In 2016, BOSC awarded more than $12,000 in scholarships, and thousands of dollars to military charities in the form of grants. Charities included Operation Bright Holiday, The Educational Center for Autism, Barksdale AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center, Fischer House Inc., BAFB Library Summer Reading Program, HAP House, Airman's Attic, and the Air Force Aid Society. 

The 2017 Shamrock Shuffle is supported by a variety of gracious donors, including: CSRA ITC, Cosse & Silmon Orthodontics, Northrup Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Willis-Knighton Health System, Centenary College of Louisiana, Orthopedic Specialists, Cyber Innovation Center, Pediatric Dental Partners, Airline Family Dentistry, Fire Tech Systems Inc., Mr. & Mrs. Myatt, Raising Cane's, First Command, Barksdale Family Housing, Dr. Michael Angelo & Mrs. Debbie Angelo, Jimmy Granger, and many more.
