Shreveport man receives life sentence for killing toddler

SHREVEPORT, La. - A Shreveport man convicted of second-degree murder by a Caddo Parish jury for killing his girlfriend's 17-month-old son learns his punishment.

On Tuesday Gerderrick Dashawn Davis, 29, was sentenced by District Judge Ramona Emanuel for the second-degree murder of Anthony Z'Bario Scott.  Davis was found guilty in February.

Davis was sentenced to life imprisonment without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Davis killed Scott back on Nov. 27, 2013 at his apartment in the 3500 block of Milam St. while his girlfriend was at
work.  The unresponsive child was transported to University Health Shreveport where he was pronounced dead.
